Following the sheep to their summer pasture 

14th April

Hundreds of sheep depart from Rocamadour to reach summer pasture on the 14th April.

Called “ La Transhumance”, this traditional event celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Following the pace of the flock, this hike is a fantastic way to enjoy the beauty of the countryside and make unusual encounters.

Chasse aux oeufs

13rd April in Sarlat

Each year, for Easter Monday, the city of Sarlat organizes a giant goose eggs hunt in the medieval town. An opportunity to discover the medieval town with family.

This tradition is the occasion for tenders family moments where young and old are ready to play a real chocolate treasure hunt in the alleys of the medieval town.

9:30: Registration – Place Boissarie (in front of covered market) for the eggs hunt.

10:00: Opening of eggs hunt

This activity is organized en partnership with the chocolate craftspersons of Sarlat and the cinema. It’s a free activity. A hot chocolate is offered at the registration of each child and a gourmet space to discover all morning.

Grand eventing national in Pompadour

From April 16th to 19th

Big event of the season, this contest, step of the Grand National FFE - AC Print is an unmissable event for all eventing riders.  And in 2020, the Pro competition master: the best national riders will meet in Pompadour, before taking off for the Tokyo Olympic Games this summer. Eventing is a discipline including: dressage, cross-country and show jumping. The show jumping events will take place on the Puy-Marmont site (equestrian stadium). The cross-country will take place on the racecourse. Catering, refreshment bar and exhibiting village on site.

Cheese Festival in Rocamadour

Sunday 9th of June  2020
The Rocamadour is a small goat’s cheese produced here since the 15th Century.

For the 32nd year running, the Rocamadour Cheese Festival brings gourmet together in an authentic and friendly atmosphere.

The festival only features farm produce labelled with an AOP (protection of origin). This culinary tour of France or even Europe would not be complete without a sip of local wine such as Côteaux de Glanes or Rocamadour  and a generous slice of Croustilot bread.

Terroir Days Sarlat

21th & 22th May

If you’re a true gourmet, the Journées du Terroir of Sarlat are made for you! The Journées du Terroir association, the town hall and the Tourist Office of Sarlat join forces to bring local gourmet food to the fore, welcoming you to a programme of unforgettable activities.

On the Thursday and Friday of Ascension weekend, come to Sarlat to meet thelocal farmers! To find them, just stroll through the streets of the medieval town centre. And bring a large basket! Milk, honey, wine, sausages, mushrooms, jams andchestnuts of the Périgordand even caviar from Neuvic… This is one of the majorgourmet gatherings of the year!

Along the way, the stands invite you to taste and purchase local products such as strawberries, walnuts and – lest we forget – deliciousfoie gras of Sarlat (,prepared with duck or goose of the Périgord. Stop over at the craft beer stand and don’t miss a taste of Périgord truffles or local cheese!

Here, the local experts share all their secrets and knowledge! From hunting truffles togathering strawberries of the Périgord, not to mention carving demonstrations of goose and duck, this is also an opportunity to see how walnut oil is pressed!

On Rue Tourny, the living farm is always a favourite attraction, featuring cows, donkeys, horses, sheep and many other farm animals of the region. Kids will also love the make-up, colouring and walnut shell painting workshops, and they’ll have a lovely little souvenir to take home!

Sarlat Swing'It

6 & 7 Juin 2020

For one week-end, the first day of June’s month, the heart of the medieval town of Sarlat offers her natural décor at the event Sarlat Swing’It. 

The first edition of Sarlat Swing It, initiated by Sarlat Town in juin 2017 made her proofs.

The objective is to offer to the sarladais a festive moment to make the most of the city. 

In June, Sarlat Swing It returns and gives itself the support of the Sarlat Périgord Noir Tourist Office and the Sarlat Cultural Center with a beautiful program. 

Once night falls, Sarlat reveals an intimate atmosphere and allows you to visit the city differently.

The program? A lighting that enhances the various emblematics places of the city for a unique moment to share.To be starry-eyed, come and discover the fire breather show.
